When I have no appetite, I crave sweet and sour food. Today, I’m going to use tofu to make Kkanpunggi Tofu. Generally, this sweet and sour sauce is used when making kanpunggi, but it is as delicious as kanpunggi even when used in dumplings and tofu. So, shall we try making it together?

Ingredients
- Main ingredients: 300g tofu, 300g starch powder, 2 tablespoons minced garlic, 1 cheongyang red pepper, 1 red pepper, 1 green onion, 1 teaspoon minced ginger, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, salt, pepper Sauce: 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 2 tablespoons vinegar, 1 tablespoon rice wine, 1/2 tablespoon oyster sauce, 2 tablespoons water, 2 tablespoons sugar
Instructions
- 1. Cut 1/2 green onion in half lengthwise and then chop. Cut the remaining 1/2 into rounds. Cut the cheongyang pepper and red pepper in half lengthwise and then chop them. Tofu is cut into dice.
- 2. Add a little salt and pepper to the tofu. Add 300g of starch powder and mix well to coat the tofu.
- 3. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar, 2 tablespoons of vinegar, 1 tablespoon of rice wind, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1/2 tablespoon of oyster sauce, and 2 tablespoons of water and mix well to make the sauce.
- 4. Add enough cooking oil and fry the tofu. Fry all sides until golden brown and set aside.
- 5. Add about 2 tablespoons of cooking oil, add the green onion cut in half, and fry. When fragrant, add 2 tbsp minced garlic and 1 tsp minced ginger and saute until golden.
- 6. Add chopped chillies and stir-fry while mixing. Then add the prepared sauce and bring to a boil. When the sauce boils, add the tofu and mix with the sauce. Add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and a round green onion and mix to make delicious peeled tofu.
Kkanpunggi tofu is ready. The tofu is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, so delicious. It goes so well with the kanpung sauce and looks like it would be really good as a side dish with alcohol.
